Our Ladies’ TriAm was held yesterday at Dumbarton Golf Club. Despite the abysmal weather, the ladies still managed to have a good time. As usual, our gin-tasting tent at the 7th hole (aptly named PunchBowl) went down a treat, and gave the ladies an extra shot of strength to compete against our ‘Pro’, Martin Gannon, at the par 3 - 8th hole. Our Beat the Pro competition raised over £200 for our sponsored Charity, Diabetes UK. Many thanks to Martin for being the man to beat on the day. Many thanks, also, to the SIX gents who helped man the gin tent! Good fun was had; the weather was irrelevant. Congratulations to our winners, Liz McLean, from Dumbarton, and Fiona Armour and Bridie McNaughton, both Cardross. A score of 71 Stableford points (2 counting scores per hole) narrowly beat their nearest rivals, with another 71, who lost out on the count back. Monique McArdle and Ann Gilmour, both from Dumbarton, played with Lynne MacDonald from Cardross to be just pipped at the post by the winners. In third place were Rona Agnew and Barbara Robertson from Dumbarton, who played with Wilma Scott from the Vale of Leven. Especially delighted for Wilma who turned up feeling under the weather, literally. Rona also won nearest the pin at the 11th hole. In fourth place were Karen Haggarty, (Dumbarton) and Joyce Tait and Mhairi Stevenson from Cardross and Clober respectively. The Ladies’ Committee would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers who helped make yesterday such a success. The Seniors’ section and the Gents provided us with wonderful support on the day. Pity none of them could sort the weather out for us…Thank you.More than a Club ... See MoreSee Less
